Public Policy & Government Relations Committee

Matthew Heil, Committee Chair
The Chamber’s Public Policy Committee monitors policies and legislation that impact the Tempe business community, supports policies that assist in the development of opportunities for job creation and business growth, and opposes regulations that negatively affect business.
Purpose
The Tempe Chamber of Commerce is the lead advocate for business issues in Tempe. We work to create a business-friendly environment in our community, representing the interest of business on a local, state, and federal level.
Our chamber monitors legislation and works closely with Tempe City Council, Arizona Legislative Members, Tempe Elementary School District and Tempe Union High School District School Board, and congressional leaders in Washington D.C. to ensure that interests of the business community are well-represented in public policy decisions.
The Tempe Chamber provides a form for significant, relevant community discussions and policies impacting the business community. Members are provided opportunities to meet with elected officials through public policy forums and legislative receptions. We work to stay one step ahead of issues facing the business community.
The Public Policy Committee helps to shape and guide the Tempe Chamber’s legislative agenda. The committee is a volunteer group of diverse Chamber members with interests and experience in public policy, economic development, government relations, the economy, and/or elections at the local, regional, state, and federal level. Public Policy Committee meetings are open to all members of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.
